Research Notes

Family tradition:
Daniel Fox married Katy Elizabeth Smith in 1877 and they had four children: Alice, Ethel, Winifred and Stanley.

Hubert Rendel wrote Mary Griffiths that Daniel and Katy may have been married at Mount Zion Chapel in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, two miles from Daniel’s birthplace in Brimington, Derbyshire; Mount Zion Chapel no longer exists. Hubert also wrote that Katy died soon after Stanley was born, maybe from an infection, which was very common in pre-antibiotic days.
